How to write a product review for internet marketing.

author Posted by: matthew on date Sep 3rd, 2008 | filed Filed under: Affiliates Marketing, copy writing
How do we going about writing our reviews of products? i have concentrated so much on the technical side that i am not touching anything about the “softer” skill. May be it because i am weaker in it! Haha (Actually its true)
I found this guideline on how to write a product review. It looks comprehensive hence i am sharing it around hope that you would find it useful too. Hope these tips on copy writing would help your affiliate marketing
Include:
  • Descriptive, specific and constructive comments that would enable the readers learn more about the product. Your comments should be specific to the product reviewed.
  • Comparisons of the product with similar products from competitors or to previous versions. (If you have brought two items of same nature)
  • Specific examples of how the product meet or did not meet what you have understood to include in the product and your expectations.
  • Write reviews of products that you actually used before
  • As we are doing affiliates marketing, we still have to be mindful of the users surfing habits. Most people don’t read on the screen hence write in a manner that enables them to “scan” for main points.
Exclude:
  • Profanity, obscenities, or spiteful reviews or posting. (its best not to write any thing on that product if you feel so strongly against it)
  • Comments about other reviews, reviewers, blogs
  • Information about pricing, availability, or alternative ordering methods as this changes too frequently.
Hope this short posting on copy writing would help you in your product reviews and affiliate marketing.

Internet marketing strategy involving the use of subdomain.

author Posted by: matthew on date Aug 22nd, 2008 | filed Filed under: Affiliates Marketing, internet marketing

This must be one of the least optimized blog posting that I am posting as there are simply no relevant searches regarding the use of subdomain in affiliate marketing. That caught me by surprise, as I am assuming that most would realize that using a subdomain for affiliate marketing must be another internet marketing strategy or affiliate marketing strategy for people.

First of all, what is a subdomain? Main domain looks like this http://www.maindomain.com and subdomain looks like this, http://subdomain.maindomain.com

What is interesting about subdomain as an internet marketing strategy or affiliate marketing strategy?

1. It is free after you have registered for your main domain

2. Its versatile as you can change your subdomain whenever you want to

3. If you plan it properly, it looks great. For example, you can use your main domain which is http://www.business.com to include a subdomain that looks like http://food.business.com . Isn’t that great looking?

4. Most webhost do offer unlimited subdomain, hence for a busy affiliates marketer like you that has dozens of interesting ideas. That’s going to keep the cost low as you can try out using subdomains first before getting a maindomain for niche market that is more profitable.

5. Subdomain can also be used to optimize your blog or website for a certain keyword. For instance, it’s very hard to squeeze all the keywords that you want into one main domain and what you can do is to create subdomains to concentrate on a particular related segment of your market. In that way, you can create unique contents and keyword centered articles at the subdomain which would help improve the ranking of the maindomain. But be warned that the content created must be unique or else you would run the risk of being seen to spam the search engine and face “deindexing”

When you create a subdomain, you actually create another domain name and the search engines recognized it as a separate domain name from your main domain name. Hence, you can create your own mini sites or blogs or do some internet marketing or affiliates marketing from.

The main advantage that I see in subdomains is the cost advantage. How many times are we saddled with domain names that failed and we have to cut it off? By using subdomain names, we can try out the market first before getting a domain name if it’s profitable.

Hope you have fun with this idea I have. And if you have comments on this, please drop me a comment on my blog on http://www.internetcitymarketing.com

Thx!

Affiliate marketing advantages and disadvantages to merchants

author Posted by: matthew on date Aug 12th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Affiliates Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the marketing of products by agents or affiliates who are appointed by the owner of the products. Upon the purchase of the product by the customer who is introduced by the affiliate, the affiliate is paid a portion of the sales proceed. These affiliates typically use the following methods in promotion:

1. Creating a dedicated product site or an review site to promote the product

2. Using Pay per click advertising or advertising services offered by major search engines

3. Using social network like Facebook and Myspace to network with people who are interested in the products

4. And many other methods.

What are affiliate marketing advantages and disadvantages to a merchant? Is affiliate marketing any good to a busy merchant?

Advantages

• On his own, the merchant has limited resources like money, time and effort to promote the products. If he starts an affiliate marketing program, he would be able to access the combine resource of a bigger pool.

• The merchant is may be good at things other than marketing for example he may be good at programming. Rather than spend time on marketing these products, he can concentrate on creating updates or new products

• There is a lot of affiliate marketing networks that can one can join in with little cost. They are able to handle the logistic portion of promoting the product. This includes collection of payment and delivery.

• The merchant is the owner of the product. He commands the highest margin and he can observe how his affiliates market his products.

Disadvantages

• To interest affiliates to promote the product, the merchant may need to give high commission to the affiliates and maintenance fees to the affiliate marketing networks

• The merchant cannot control how the affiliates go about promoting the product. If they use some black hat methods in promoting the product, it may affect the reputation or branding of the product.

• Though affiliate marketing allows the merchant to free up time to do other things, he would still need to manage it. But not all merchant knows how to set up the right incentive scheme to attract good affiliate marketers to promote his products.

• The merchant would need to package the product in a way that would attract the affiliates marketing.

After evaluating affiliate marketing advantages and disadvantages, the merchants may be worried about pushing the product out to the market. But my take on it is that in business, there is always risk. We just have to increase the odds in business to our advantage.
